The 321 Heading Sensor is the industry standard in seismic exploration industry with an installed base of more 70,000 units. The sensor has been used in a wide variety of harsh environments, and at all latitudes, and has been deployed in military, scientific and commercial applications.

ION’s Model 321 heading sensor uses an optical encoder that is magnetically aligned to the earth’s North Pole.  Thanks to the unique, patented magnetically coupled optical encoder construction, the 321 sensor is able to provide accurate and reliable measurements without the need for recalibration.
