ION have a wide range of experience processing and imaging ocean bottom seismic, including nodes and cables. We have developed a comprehensive set of algorithms and workflows to address the many challenges associated with these data, from robust pre-processing, detailed velocity modeling, azimuthal anisotropy analysis, through to the final imaging. Our strong velocity modeling capabilities, including our wide range of FWI tools, allow us to get the most out of the valuable ocean bottom seismic data.
We have developed a large number of proprietary tools for handling OBS data, including those that address:

- Surface-Consistent processing & Q compensation

- PP-PS registration
Additionally, ION have developed our own enhanced frequency (broadband) seismic source called Gemini. It could be used for new proprietary acquisition and processing projects, and will be used in some of ION’s multi-client surveys. The increased amount of low frequencies, when compared to a conventional source, allows for improved FWI results, especially when combined with the extremely long offsets associated with OBN data. The source could be used for a regular dense node OBN survey, or for a sparse node survey, which may be used for building a new, more accurate velocity model in order to produce an upgraded migration of existing OBN data, where a conventional, frequency-limited source was used.
