HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 6, 2003–Input/Output Inc.
(NYSE:IO) announced today that Dr. Bruce S. Appelbaum and John N.
Seitz have been elected to its board of directors. With the
appointment of Messrs. Appelbaum and Seitz, Input/Output now has seven
directors on its board, six of whom are independent as defined by the
New York Stock Exchange.
Dr. Appelbaum is chairman of Mosaic Resources Company, a newly
formed exploration and production company focusing on opportunities in
the North Sea. Prior to his current position, he served as vice
president and president of Worldwide Exploration and New Ventures of
Texaco Inc. Dr. Appelbaum joined Texaco in 1990 as division manager of
Texaco U.S.A.’s offshore exploration division, was promoted through
several positions of increasing responsibility and was elected an
Officer of Texaco Inc. in 2000. Under his tenure at Texaco, he
divested under performing assets and acquired high potential acreage
that added approximately three billion barrels of oil equivalent in a
four-year time frame. Last year, Dr. Appelbaum was named “A Discoverer
of the 20th Century” by the American Association of Petroleum
Dr. Appelbaum is currently a Trustee of the American Geological
Institute Foundation. He also serves on the Advisory Board to the
Department of Oceanography at Texas A&M University and previously
served on the Advisory Board of the School of Earth Sciences at
Dr. Appelbaum graduated from the State University of New York at
Buffalo in 1969 with an undergraduate degree in Geology. He earned a
master of science in geological oceanography in 1971 and a doctorate
in geological oceanography in 1974, both from Texas A&M University.
Mr. Seitz is currently a consultant to the oil & gas industry.
Prior to his current position, he was president and chief executive
officer of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation until March 2003. Mr. Seitz
joined Anadarko in 1977 as a senior geologist and was promoted through
several positions of increasing responsibility, becoming president and
chief operating officer in April 1999, and chief executive officer in
January 2002. Under his tenure at Anadarko, the Company grew through
discoveries, development, and acquisitions to become the largest U.S.
independent oil & gas company in 2002.
Mr. Seitz graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with an
undergraduate degree in Geology in 1974 and earned a Master of Science
in Geology from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1975. He also
