HOUSTON – September 30, 1998 – Input/Output, Inc. (NYSE: IO) announced
today that Gay Stanley Mayeux has resigned as vice president and chief financial
officer effective today to pursue other business opportunities.

“Gay has made many important contributions to Input/Output during her tenure
with us,” said W.J. “Zeke” Zeringue, I/O’s chairman and CEO. “She has our
respect and best wishes in her future endeavors.”

Vice President and Controller Ronald A. Harris, who has been with the company
since 1991, will serve as interim CFO until Mayeux’s successor is named.

marine exploration.
