ION’s GrandSPAN seismic program provides a regional grid of PSDM and PSTM processed data to frame the rifted basins along Newfoundland’s eastern margin. Continental, rifted continental and oceanic crust can be mapped and associated with documented rifting events. Serpentinized mantle is also observed. The shallow anisotropic velocity model is constrained by 56 wells that tie the seismic program. The deep crustal section incorporates gravity modeling to support the seismic MOHO interpretation. The program illustrates the offsetting Tertiary and Jurassic depocenters and the ability to map Jurassic from the St Lawrence channel, through Jeanne d’Arc and north into the East Orphan Basin.
