Multi-Client Data Library

Oil & gas companies continue to work toward finding new technologies in order to evaluate both conventional and unconventional plays. To address this challenge, ION developed unique onshore and offshore, 2D and 3D multi-client data programs known as BasinSPANS and ResSCANS.

BasinSPAN - Basin-scale Seismic Data Programs

BasinSPAN (SPAN) programs are basin-wide deep, geologically driven regional 2D multi-client programs designed to evaluate prospectivity in new frontiers or identify new play concepts. Developed with local experts, BasinSPAN programs are custom designed to provide critical insights into the geologic evolution, deep basin architecture, and depositional and structural history of a petroleum system. BasinSPANS are depth imaged by ION using the most advanced processing tools available. Particular attention is paid to ensure the data ties available well information and provides a consistent framework to integrate 2D and 3D datasets and evaluate prospects.

Programs are developed using a collaborative approach including guidance from a team of expert regional geologists, input from the underwriting oil & gas companies, and expert advice from ION's geo-consulting experts. This allows ION to overlay the programs with areas of structural or stratigraphic interest. Once program objectives have been set, ION manages the project with the utmost concern for proprietary needs. We apply the best survey design, acquisition, and processing and interpretation technologies to ensure value-added, fit-for-purpose results.

ResSCAN - Reservoir Imaging and Characterization Programs

ResSCAN programs are 3D multicomponent imaging and characterization programs designed to help E&P companies better understand conventional and unconventional reservoirs to maximize production. Unlike traditional P-wave surveys, ION’s seismic approach provides enhanced key rock property insights away from the well bore. The workflow integrates upfront geological, petrophysical, and rock physics analysis to establish which seismic attributes best predict key reservoir properties and impact drilling and completions engineering decisions. The enhanced imaging and seismic attribute analyses enable operators to evaluate and address key challenges associated with geohazard identification and avoidance, reservoir characterization, and completions effectiveness.
