What do you do at ION?
I am an account manager and business developer for two of our Solutions businesses - GXT data processing and Integrated Seismic Solutions.  I try to match up the geophysical challenges my target clients have (primarily majors operating in the Gulf of Mexico) with the products and services we have in our toolkit.
What do you think potential employees should know about ION?
Even though you may be slotted to work in a particular role initially, our growth and the way our culture work mean that you're going to have an opportunity to move beyond that slot relatively quickly, if you want to.  This isn't the kind of place where you're going to find yourself in the same job for 10 years, so the opportunities for skill-building and professional development are really high.
What do you enjoy most about your job at ION?

We have so many cutting-edge technologies, you really feel equipped to offer your clients a solution to their geophysical challenges.  Over the last six months, for example, I've not only sold clients ‘products' (like an RTM project or a BasinSPAN data library), I've also been involved in helping clients think about how they can use technologies like FireFly to unlock a resource play in North America and deploy VSO (and advanced imaging techniques) to better map a high-value reservoir located beneath salt in the Gulf of Mexico.

In your role, how are you working with other ION employees to change the future of seismic?

Subsalt imaging is one of the toughest problems in geophysics.  Over the last 2 years, I've been working with a large independent to design and execute a project for a subsalt reservoir in the Gulf of Mexico.  We used one of the VSO systems operated by RXT to record full-wave data from the seabed and have begun to process the data using some of the cutting-edge techniques GXT has brought to the market, like RTM and 3DSRME.  Our client is delighted with the results, as they can now ‘see' details of the salt structure and the reservoir that weren't visible before.
