Accurate source and receiver positioning facilitated the explosive growth and success of 3D, 4D and wide-azimuth surveys. Setting the industry standard for over 20 years, ION's comprehensive toolkit reduces positional uncertainty across the entire towed streamer array.
The flexible systems operate on any seismic streamer equipped with industry standard communication coils and enable customized network configurations. Recent requirements for increased repeatability and cross-line sampling are driving the next wave of technology.
ION's latest toolkit addition, DigiFINTM, delivers unprecedented spread stability as the only commercially available lateral streamer control. DigiFIN enables denser spatial sampling by maintaining tighter, more uniform cable separation and increases productivity with faster line changes and minimal in-fill.
The leading depth control system for over two decades, DigiBIRDTM maintains streamers at pre-defined target depths to optimize the bandwidth of acquired seismic data for increased resolution and repeatability. CompassBirdTM combines DigiBIRD's functionality with heading sensors for compass directionality.
Using full acoustic cross-bracing, DigiRANGETM II provides greater positioning accuracy through acoustic source to receiver range measurements and is a pre-requisite for implementing DigiFIN lateral streamer control. Peripheral equipment supports ION's positioning systems.
Together, the toolkit delivers reliable streamer positioning by integrating horizontal and vertical streamer movements with acoustic range, source, receiver, compass heading, and speed measurements. ION's positioning products are also tightly integrated with Concept Systems' software to deliver better seismic images more efficiently while minimizing HSE exposure. |
