GATOR’s data integration functionality played a key role in the BP Valhall Life of Field Seismic (LoFS) project. Valhall utilizes a permanently-buried cable 4D acquisition system to monitor changes in reservoir behavior across successive, time-lapse (4D) surveys. As a technology partner in the project, Concept Systems provided the IT infrastructure, applications and personnel to help deliver a complete, edited, and quality-controlled seismic data set that was ready for immediate processing.
At Valhall, the client made use of an enhanced GATOR software suite that included SPRINT, REFLEX and MERCATOR which expanded the solution’s functionality in the areas of seismic acquisition control, positioning and automated data management. Additionally, Concept Systems developed new, bespoke technology for automated quality control of 4D data. Concept Systems worked directly with BP geophysicists using a Fast Track Development approach to design the software application. This allowed fast, cost effective development of the critical functionality prior to field deployment and helped BP achieve its primary project objectives. Concept Systems also provided other key services for the Valhall project, which include the supply of 4D acquisition specialists and a range of Field IT Services.
