Seabed Acquisition Technologies
As oil & gas companies seek to recover reserves in areas that are harder to access or from reservoirs that are more difficult to image, seabed seismic is emerging as a valuable part of the marine imaging toolkit.
Seabed seismic offers a number of benefits over traditional towed streamer acquisition:
 Captures full-wave (multicomponent) seismic data, delivering:
- Broader bandwidth P-wave data for higher resolution seismic images.
- Converted-wave data to improve reservoir characterization and image through gas clouds
- Improves the illumination of complex (e.g., subsalt) targets by supporting wide azimuth survey geometries
- Supports acquisition of seismic data in infrastructure-obstructed areas
- Allows receivers to be permanently deployed on the seafloor for maximum 4D repeatability and cost-effective time-lapse acquisition
