Multi-Vessel Navigation and Data Management System for Seabed Operations
GATOR is a LINUX-based integrated navigation and data management system designed specifically for distributed, multi-vessel seabed operations such as ocean-bottom cable (OBC) and transition zone acquisition, as well as time-lapse (4D) reservoir monitoring. GATOR delivers a unique blend of data centralization, data management, and advanced positioning functionality. The solution has been designed to be highly flexible, yet to deliver improved quality control and productivity benefits regardless of its configuration.
OBC contractors who use GATOR have acknowledged significant improvements in efficiency throughout their entire acquisition process. GATOR-enabled fleets, including those equipped with multiple shooters and recorders, can work concurrently in non-stop production mode on large spreads of cable. New techniques, such as interleaved shooting and ‘6 roll 6’ recording, can be coordinated using the software. In recent projects, GATOR has integrated USBL and ROV systems for use on node-based OBC, bottom drag OBC and 4D/4C operations.
GATOR is available for purchase or on a short-term rental basis. Although available as a stand-alone software package, GATOR is generally supplied as part of a comprehensive IT turnkey solution that includes GATOR software and hardware, computers and radio networks, along with experienced field personnel. MERCATOR and REFLEX software can also be integrated to provide survey mapping and planning and coverage analysis.
