ION Supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Lil Miracles
Continuing the Company's Support of Charitable Organizations
HOUSTON (October 10, 2008) -- ION Geophysical Corporation (NYSE: IO) announced today its latest community affairs commitment to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) and Lil Miracles, two nonprofit organizations that help those in need of medical attention. In an effort to support these charities, ION's GX Technology group hosted their 9th Annual ION-GXT Charity Golf Tournament and collected donations to sponsor these two organizations.
"ION is proud to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Lil Miracles. This year's golf tournament is significant because we were able to raise funds for not one, but two special charities, through the support of our clients, vendors, and employees," said Jim Hollis, EVP and COO of ION Solutions. "It is nice to bring everyone together for a day of golf, but what's unique is being able to team up to support these fabulous foundations. We are committed to helping our community and those in need, and we thank all who showed up to donate their time and money to these charities. It is events like these that show our true ION-GXT spirit."
Kimberly Organ, Director of Special Events at the CFF, added, "The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is committed to helping to improve the quality of life for those with cystic fibrosis. The donations we receive go toward funding research and supporting the 30,000 individuals who suffer from the disease. We thank ION-GXT and all those who participated in the event for their contribution to our cause."
The 9th Annual ION-GX Technology Charity Golf Tournament was held Friday, October 10th at Cypress Lakes Golf Club. Over 100 golfers showed up to support CFF and Lil Miracles. The event generated numerous donations, with ION matching all golfer contributions.

About Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF)
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a nonprofit donor-supported organization, is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease. When the Foundation was founded in 1955 the median age for survival was elementary school age. (Elementary school is not an age!) The CFF has made significant progress through Foundation supported research and today the life expectancy is 37.4 years of age. The CFF continues to make a difference in the 30,000 lives that suffer from this devastating disease.
About Lil Miracles
Lil Miracles was established for Lila: a 43-year-old, single woman, who had a brain hemorrhage and was given a five percent chance of survival. She survived, but now needs very special rehabilitation. Without insurance, she cannot cover her treatment, which costs a minimum of $30K per month. Lila is only just starting to be able to speak a few words and can hardly sit without assistance. She still needs several months of special care that this foundation is attempting to provide. With the right treatment she can fully recover. The doctors say that her only alternative is to spend the rest of her life in a state-run nursing home.
