GSC Purchase Full-wave Land Imaging Platform
Bahrain -- June 14 --Input/Output Inc. (NYSE: IO) announced today that Geophysical Service Centre (GSC), a Middle East-based seismic contractor, purchased the company’s System Four land seismic acquisition recording system. As part of the agreement, GSC will also purchase several thousand VectorSeis digital, full-wave sensors. GSC will be the first contractor to purchase the VectorSeis System Four platform for dedicated use within the Middle East region.
GSC initially plans to use the system for multicomponent seismic surveys in Jordan; subsequent programs should extend the system’s application throughout the broader Middle East region and into North Africa.
Nour Al Tubor, General Manager of Geophysical Service Centre, commented on the purchase, "We bought a VectorSeis configuration of System Four because we believe full-wave technology will enable us to deliver step-change imaging improvements to our oil & gas company customers operating in the region. Furthermore, with only one sensor per station, VectorSeis single-point receivers will deliver significant efficiency improvements during field operations.”
Ben Lovell, Middle East Regional Manager of I/O, added, "The near-surface conditions in this part of the world make it difficult to acquire high-resolution data. I/O designed VectorSeis to help improve image resolution by recording the full seismic wavefield. It is encouraging to see GSC embrace full-wave technology for the Middle East as there has been significant interest from both the NOCs and international E&P companies that are operating within this resource-rich region.”
System Four incorporates hybrid functionality that enables contractors to acquire seismic data using analog geophones or digital, full-wave VectorSeis sensors -- in virtually any combination or configuration -- even on the same survey.
I/O recently released its latest version of System Four, called System Four3. This latest release builds upon the proven foundation of the System Four platform to deliver the lowest total cost of ownership in land acquisition. Features that continue to be supported in the version three release include advanced telemetry management, a Windows-based operating system, unmatched system dynamic range, and superior performance in proximity to static and lightning.
