Lending a Helping Hand

During the 2009 summer months, ION employees teamed up to help the children of the Tenderfeet Education Center in Africa. The Tenderfeet Education Center is a school for orphans and other vulnerable children of pre-school through second grade age in Nairobi, Kenya. Tenderfeet children are victims of extreme poverty, living in households making $1 or $2 per day.
Beginning as a grass-roots initiative, a group of ION-GXT employees organized a creative fundraiser to raise money for the Tenderfeet kids. Coined Fudgesicle Friday, the ION Tenderfeet team toured around ION’s Houston Headquarters during the summer months selling cool refreshments in exchange for donations to Tenderfeet. All proceeds from Fudgesicle Fridays went to helping care and feed the children of the Tenderfeet Education Center.
This community project joins other ION-sponsored programs like Fund for Teachers and the BP MS150. Our employees take pride in giving back to others and supporting the communities in which we live and operate.
